FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How can I decide whether I want to
work with The Organizing Concierge?
I offer a 30-minute complimentary consultation on the telephone. During this time, we will discuss your greatest areas of stress and frustration, and determine whether we can work well together to help you achieve your goals.
Please tell me about your background,
and how you learned to organize.
I have been organizing since I was a little girl. It comes naturally to me (perhaps they’ll find the gene for it someday!), and I have supplemented this natural inclination with a great deal of reading, formal coursework in the areas of time management, residential and business organizing, and coaching. But nothing beats experience; I have seen most everything and am very confident that I can be of help to most people who contact me.
How much do you charge?
Rates vary depending on the services selected. Let’s discuss this during our complimentary consultation.
Should I straighten up before you come to our first session?
Please don’t! It is best for me to see your home as it typically looks so that I can be of greatest help to you.
Please describe a typical organizing
session.
To organize a space, we decide together what space to work on first, and we empty it completely. Then together we sort through all items and determine which should be kept, which donated, which discarded. Some items will be moved to other spots in the house, closer to where they are used. Others will be replaced in the original space, often using attractive organizers such as bins, baskets, drawer dividers. Often, labels are used to clearly mark what goes where.
For paper organizing, we gather up all loose papers in the entire house. We then sit together and sort the papers, one by one, into categories. For example: “To Pay,” “To File,” “To Enter Into Calendar.” We discard as much extraneous paper as possible; I can advise on this often confusing decision-making process. We then establish a filing system that works for you, and will help you maintain the now-neat surfaces we’ve cleared.
I am ashamed of my home. Will you
tell anyone what you see here?
Every aspect of our work together is strictly confidential. I am a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), and am bound by a strict Code of Ethics, which encompasses absolute confidentiality.
I am afraid to throw things out. So
how can you really help me?
This is not uncommon. We can work on this together. I will never force you to discard any of your possessions, but I can help you make good decisions about what to retain and what to release. Then, I can help you store everything you want to keep in as efficient as manner as possible.
Once you leave, how will I be able to
maintain the new level of organization?
I do not simply organize “for you,” but “with you.” Our work together involves my coaching you and training you so that you will be able to maintain the system on your own.
